SKA - Vityaz. Press-conference

3 January 2024

HC SKA head coach Roman Rotenberg:

- The guys did a great job, they followed the game plan and made the fans inside the packed Ice Palace happy. Overall, we stuck to our system for the full three periods, the opponents barely had an opportunity. Nevertheless, there are mistakes which we have to fix. We'll now prepare for our next game on Friday.

- In the first period, Stepan Falkovsky told the referees that no foul had been committed by the Vityaz player. What are your thoughts on this incident?

- Stepan did the right thing! We're all about honesty and making sure ice hockey is a clean sport. These are our principles. We treat every opponent with respect, this is why we're performing successfully.

- 19-year-old goalkeeper Pavel Moisevich conceded his first KHL goal today. How impressed are you with his development?

- The skaters were to blame for the conceded goal, not Pavel. Defensive play is a vital aspect of ice hockey. Pavel contributed to our victory today, and we're really happy that we have four strong goaltenders in our squad. Competition drives progression.

- SKA didn't take a single penalty today.

- Discipline forms the foundation of every victory. Our guys are working hard with their legs to avoid taking penalties. Yes, Vityaz did try to provoke us today, but we refused to bite the bait.

HC Vityaz Moscow Region head coach Dmitry Ryabykin:

- We lost out in all aspects today. SKA were dominant, they competed with more desire, determination and speed. It's difficult to compete when half of your team disappears. Taking into account that we were playing SKA, I thought that I didn't need to fire the players up, but it appears that I was mistaken.

HC SKA defenseman Nikita Kamalov:

- Happy New Year to everyone who came to the Ice Palace for this game! I think that our win is a great gift for our supporters. We'll continue celebrating the festive season with victories! Vityaz didn't have many chances at all, but it's a shame that we did concede that goal in the third period.

HC SKA forward Vasily Glotov:

- It was great to see so many people inside the arena! I was really happy to score my first senior hat-trick. I've often managed to score twice, but before today I had never scored three in one senior match. Thank you to my teammates for making this possible!
