SKA - CSKA. Match day

21 November 2016

SKA will continue their home stretch with a headline fixture against HC CSKA Moscow in Saint Petersburg.

Over the past couple of seasons, this match-up has turned into a bitter rivalry. After SKA beat CSKA on the way to the KHL Gagarin Cup in 2015, CSKA got their own back last campaign (4:0). Indeed, before the teams' first meeting this season, CSKA had beaten our club seven times in a row. Nevertheless, SKA did break that run, defeating their Moscow opponents 2:0 just a few weeks ago.

It's been no surprise to see CSKA among the KHL leaders again. Having won the regular season for the past two years on the bounce, CSKA were always going to be one of SKA's main challengers, and they currently occupy second place of the Western Conference on 75 points. They haven't really been able to compensate for the loss of leader Alexander Radulov, with Kirill Petrov their top scorer with only 18 points (10+8). Goaltender Ilya Sorokin holds an impressive 93.6 saves percentage.

Unfortunately, SKA's 15 match winning streak was snapped against Avtomobilist, losing 1:2. The team are still top of the standings though, four points clear of CSKA.

The SKA - CSKA match will begin at 19.30 local time. Life78, KHL TV, KHL TV HD and Match TV will all broadcast live, while you can follow events on our official Twitter account.
