SKA - CSKA. Match day

In one of the most highly anticipated matches of October, SKA and HC CSKA Moscow will do battle in Saint Petersburg.

With these teams regularly meeting in the Gagarin Cup playoffs, this match-up has become the KHL's showpiece. However, SKA haven't had much fun against CSKA in recent fixtures, losing seven in a row to their Moscow rivals. After going down 3:4 in an epic playoff series in 2015, CSKA took revenge this spring, and they won the first match against each other this campaign 2:1 at home. Indeed, CSKA are once again having a solid regular season, as 14 wins from 18 matches have given them first place. Their top scorer is forward Kirill Petrov with 13 points (7+6), while Ilya Sorokin boasts an impressive saves percentage of 95.5.

SKA got back to winning ways on Tuesday, demolishing Slovan Bratislava 6:0 in Slovakia. Ilya Kovalchuk netted his second hat trick of the season in that game, and he is now second in the list of league top scorers. Igor Shestyorkin, who has guarded SKA's net in ten of the last eleven matches, notched up a third shutout.

The SKA - CSKA match will begin at 19.30 local time inside the Ice Palace. Life78, KHL TV HD and Match TV will broadcast live. You can keep up to date with events on our official Twitter account.
