SKA - Torpedo. Match day

The third match of the new 2015/2016 KHL regular season will take place today, as SKA will face HC Torpedo Nizhny Novgorod in front of their home fans.

These two opponents are no stranger to each other, as in the KHL Gagarin Cup playoffs of last season they met in the first round. Despite a shaky start to the series our team proved to be much the stronger, taking it in five 4:1. Since then Torpedo have seen their squad undertake a serious overhaul, and reliable foreigners such as Juuso Hietanen and Wojtek Wolski have taken their leave for HC Dynamo Moscow and Jokerit Helsinki respectively. They haven't signed too many new faces either, with only Swedish forward Karl Klingberg arriving and Ivan Lisutin replacing fellow goaltender Ivan Kasutin. From their first two games so far Torpedo have had mixed fortunes, defeating Lokomotiv 3:2 on penalty shots before going down to Jokerit 1:5 in Finland.

It has been much the same start for our team, losing one and winning the other. SKA do have four points compared to Torpedo's two however, and will feel encouraged by defeating HC Dinamo Minsk 2:1 at home two days ago. Ilya Ezhov was the real hero of that match, making 27 saves from 28 shots.

The SKA - Torpedo match will begin at 17.00 local time inside the Saint Petersburg Ice Palace. 100 TV and KHL TV HD will both broadcast the game live, and you will be able to keep up to date with events by following our official Twitter account.
