The trade with Neftekhimik for Maxim Groshev

SKA Hockey Club and HC Neftekhimik Nizhnekamsk agreed on a trade. 18-year-old forward Maxim Groshev transferred to Saint Petersburg, with Neftekhimik receiving monetary compensation.
Groshev has won a silver medal at the World U18 Championship and the World Junior Championship with Russian national teams.
The overall aim of KHL clubs is to develop players. The trade concerning Groshev is to avoid the departure of the player to North America, instead allowing the talented forward to progress in the domestic championship. Neftekhimik met the demands of the player who wanted to join SKA.
Groshev's trade matches up with the development strategies of both SKA and Neftekhimik for young players. The move to a top club should help Groshev develop, something which is especially important with the World Junior Championship due to start in late December. SKA and Neftekhimik wish Groshev luck and for the junior national team to win the World Junior Championship!
