SKA-1946 are in the Kharlamov Cup final!

SKA's youth team SKA-1946 have for the first time in their history qualified for the MHL Kharlamov Cup final. The guys have had to win four rounds to get to this stage, having now seen off Dynamo Saint Petersburg 3:0. HC MVD Balashikha 3:1, Red Army 3:0 and White Bears Chelyabinsk 3:1.

It was a tough ask for SKA-1946 facing MHL regular season winners in the semi-finals, but the players defied the odds winning the first two home games 1:0 and 3:2 in overtime, lost the third 4:5 and then took the series with a 4:3 triumph in Chelyabinsk.

SKA-1946 will play either against HC Loko Yaroslavl or Chaika Nizhny Novgorod in the final. At the moment their series is tied 2:2.

SKA vice president Roman Rotenberg commented on the semi-final victory:

- Qualifying for the semi-finals, SKA-1946 had already set a new personal best. Today in Chelyabinsk the guys have now already bettered that record, defeating the MHL regular season winners White Bears. SKA-1946 are show true fighting spirit and time unity during these playoffs: in Chelyabinsk the team had to play without their leader Alexander Barabanov, who is with the main team in Kazan, but still managed to win scoring the clinching goal shorthanded. Being in the final, even more concentration and desire to win will be needed. The players, coaching staff and board of directors are all going to seriously prepare for the next opponents.

Our youth team's matches are catching people's attention more and more during this season, and we have no doubt that SKA-1946 can count on Saint Petersburg's full support.
