Sergei Shirokov: "We had a chance to win this match"

10 April 2017

- SKA led 17-2 in the shots on target department after the first period.

- We should have taken our chances and scored more goals. If we would have been easier had we scored.

- In previous years, the winner of game two has always become champions.

- I have never played in the final before, so I don't know about that statistic.

- How did you concede on the powerplay?

- Special teams played their part today. There were chances for us on the man advantage to score. At times luck was against us, we hit the post. We know where we made mistakes.

- Is 1:1 a fair series score?

- It's hard to say. We played better today than in game one. There was an opportunity to win and make it 2:0. However, tough games are waiting for us at home. We have to win them.

- Experts have been saying that the longer the series continues, the more tired Metallurg's players will become.

- Coaches pay more attention to that. They tell us where to make corrections. If we need to dump the puck in their zone more, we will do that.

- After four 5+20 penalties in the previous game, did the coaches speak about discipline?

- No, we carried on playing the same way. There are emotions in a final.

- Will you dump the puck in the zone more because of Metallurg's defensive tactics?

- For us, the main thing is to hold the puck in their zone, create chances and crash their net. There are a lot of rebounds.

- Will it be easier at home in Saint Petersburg?

- Let's see. We will try and win.

- Was Vasily Koshechkin very important for Metallurg?

- He made saves, but we simply failed to score on our opportunities. If we had scored two more goals in the first period, I think that we would have won.
