Sibir - SKA - 1:0

2 February 2019

In Novosibirsk, SKA dropped a disappointing defeat in this 2018/2019 KHL away series, coming up short 0:1 against hosts HC Sibir.

After falling behind early on, our players gradually increased the intensity and had plenty of golden opportunities to score in the third period including a disallowed goal, however thanks to excellent goalkeeping from Alexei Krasikov, Sibir held on to the 1:0 scoreline.

The only goal was scored inside five minutes. Lurking on the doorstep, Shane Prince connected with a low pass, lashing an instant attempt beyond SKA goaltender Magnus Hellberg.

For long periods, Sibir held the initiative, however it was a different story in the third. In the closing 20 minutes, SKA managed to register 21 shots on goal compared to Sibir's four, and the team thought the equaliser arrived when Vladislav Gavrikov scored on the powerplay. However, after video review, it was determined that goaltender interference took place.

Sibir clung on for dear life and registered a 1:0 victory in front of their home fans in Novosibirsk.
