Roman Rotenberg speaks after playing Avtomobilist in Ekaterinburg

HC SKA head coach Roman Rotenberg:

- We had expected a tough game, Avtomobilist were in need of a response after their recent results. They have a lot of strong, quality players. We spent almost the entire match inside their zone, but we committed a couple of mistakes and they managed to score twice. Nevertheless, we subsequently regrouped and earned a hard-fought, important point. In terms of our penalty shots, then we need to broaden our arsenal of weapons in order to surprise the opponents. We'll now prepare to face Traktor in Chelyabinsk on Thursday.

- SKA tallied 22 shots on target during the first frame, but a lot of them seemed to be 'hit and hope' efforts.

- We have to give credit to Vladimir Galkin in their net, he was probably their best player. He likes to sit deep inside the crease and doesn't emerge off his line, which is unusual nowadays. We had trouble in adjusting to his approach. This is what I mean when I speak about broadening our arsenal of attacking weapons, we must be able to cope with any opponent.

- Can we say you've gone back to the previous style of ice hockey which worked for SKA? At the start of the campaign, you appeared to be trying to introduce a new style.

- Our team possesses character, determination and strength. The guys are now following our game plan, so that's why we're winning matches. It's that simple.

- What happened for the two conceded goals in the opening frame?

- We need to analyse those incidents. Whenever we concede a goal, that means that a mistake has taken place. Unfortunately, mistakes do happen in ice hockey, you can notice them in any game which you watch. We'll analyse what happened and correct our errors.

- Even though he's yet to start a game, 19-year-old Pavel Moisevich has set a shutout streak record for KHL rookies. When will he be included in the starting line-up?

- Ice hockey dictates its own requirements. We always work in accordance with the situation on the ice and what's required, anything is possible.

- SKA appeared to be lacking creativity on the powerplay in this match.

- Avtomobilist were fresher than us. Just like in Magnitogorsk, the ice here is 28 meters, whereas in Saint Petersburg it's 26. We need to work harder with our legs and improve our movement. Instead of standing still when on the powerplay, you have to move and take good shots on goal. Our PP will improve in our next game. By the way, I want to point out that Zakhar Bardakov received a nasty injury after taking a stick to the face. We must prevent these things from happening in ice hockey.
