Medvescak - SKA. Match day

SKA's European tour will continue today with a fixture against HC Medvescak Zagreb in the Croatian capital.

This is Medvescak's third season in the KHL, and they have only once reached the Gagarin Cup playoffs. Last campaign's disappointment prompted the club's management to make a number of squad changes, and during the summer they captured some experienced big KHL names. Czech forward Marek Kvapil was their marquee signing, and so far he has lived up to his billing with six points to his name (4+2). Finnish international Tuukka Mantyla has also arrived from Amur Khabarovsk, and he will be expected to shore up their usually rocky defence. Goaltenders Danny Taylor and Gasper Kroselj have come to backup Calvin Heeter, and so far their extra depth has rewarded them with 13 points from 10 games. They were thrashed by HC Spartak Moscow 1:7 in their previous game though, and will want to improve in front of their home fans today.

Our team got back to winning ways in Bratislava two days ago, taking away a thrilling 2:1 overtime win against HC Slovan. Evgeny Ketov scored the winner in that one, and he is indeed the team's top goalscorer with five. Ilya Ezhov's 39 save performance against Slovan has also improved his percentage to an impressive 95.5%.

The Medvescak - SKA game will take place at 18.30 Moscow time inside the Dom Sportova, Zagreb. 100 TV and KHL TV HD will both broadcast the game live, and you can keep up to date with events by following our official Twitter account.
