Karjala Cup. Czech Republic - Russia - 2:5

In Finland, the senior Russian national team competed in the final Karjala Cup match. Today's opponents were the Czech Republic.

Coming off the back of a large 6:2 victory against Switzerland, the players were confident of another positive result. Mikhail Grigorenko gave Russia a two goal lead in the first period, scoring twice from close range.

Kirill Kaprizov extended the Russian advantage to three, before the Czechs got on the board. Nevertheless, Russia weren't to be denied. Mikhail Grigorenko secured his hat trick, and SKA Saint Petersburg defenseman Dinar Khafizullin netted a fifth. The Czech Republic got a second consolation in the dying moments, but it mattered little as Russia won 5:2!
