Harijs Vitolins: "The players have been committed"

26 July 2016

- It was the first match, and with it being against a VHL team, it helped the players get match fit. They did well in attack, but made mistakes when defending. It’s a normal part of the training process.

- What were your particular tasks for this match?

- We wanted to see what we have been working on this entire camp. Over the two weeks, we have been training in all positions on the ice – some things worked, and the process continues.

- Have you been watching over SKA-Neva?

- This was the first time that I have seen them play. Personally, it’s more important how our players perform. Nevertheless, SKA-Neva have young players, and they weren’t afraid of playing against the likes of Pavel Datsyuk. They were committed.

- Some lines are already coming together.

- This is only the first game, and both teams have been training hard. We can begin to make conclusions only after the tournament in Sochi.

- What changes will be made for tomorrow’s second match?

- We will play with three lines – only six are present. Before the camp started, we wanted these matches to take place as to see how the players have been listening to us.

- Has everything gone well at this camp?

- The guys have been committed, no one has dropped out and this pleases us.
