The management of the SKA Hockey Club has decided to rename the team of the All-Russian Hockey League. The army team's farm club will change its name from "SKA-Neva" to "SKA-VMF".

St. Petersburg is the naval capital of Russia, the location of the General Staff of the Navy. In addition, from 2008 to 2013, the SKA farm club was called the Navy Hockey Club. The new name "SKA-VMF" combines the traditions of army sports and the team's involvement in the SKA system, emphasizing the connection of our city with the Navy.

For the first time in the country's history, Russian President Vladimir Putin awarded the title of twice Hero of the Russian Federation to Major General Mikhail Gudkov, Deputy Commander of the Russian Navy. HC SKA honours the memory of fallen heroes and is proud of those who defend the interests of the Motherland around the world. Real steps towards patriotic education of youth and development of sport are one of the key tasks of the club.

In the near future, the updated logo and jerseys of SKA-VMF will be presented. They will retain the traditional club colours, which will be combined with elements reflecting affiliation with the navy and Saint Petersburg.
