Igor Larionov speaks after SKA's dramatic victory over Dynamo in Moscow

HC SKA head coach Igor Larionov:

"First of all, I want to congratulate our guys with the victory. We worked really hard for it after initially falling behind. I don't want to give any big statements, because this is just a small part of the character and performance level which we want to show. A lot of games are ahead of us. However, it's always a great feeling when you win. This was a difficult match against a very strong side."

SKA's progress...

"Our players are beginning to understand that ice hockey is a challenging sport. Alongside attacking play and quality, there are other aspects such as character which are just as important. Discipline is key too. You have to play with short shifts in order to remain fresh, and you must block shots when required. If you want to overcome your difficulties and challenges, it's necessary to give your all on the ice. 

"Nonetheless, this is only one match. Christmas is only in December, but we've already given out enough presents this season. We have to claim back what we gave out."

Rocco Grimaldi's miss when the Dynamo Moscow net was empty...

"I would have been disappointed had he attempted his shot behind the red line. Rocco did what he could in that particular situation, checking where the net was and not shooting straight away. Yes, he could have passed the puck, but he wants to be a leading player for our team. Pressure takes its toll on the players too, not just the coaches. Overall, though, I'm seeing a lot of good things in Rocco's game. He'll be fine."

Signing of Pierrick Dubé...

"I found out about this before the game. I don't have much information yet. For me personally, my main concern is that he will leave to play for France at the Olympic Games in the winter. I spoke to the management about my concerns, but the trade still went through. I can't tell you where I see him in the team yet, I need to see him and understand what he's about. He's an unknown player for me who will now join our team. Hopefully, we can ensure that he displays his best qualities here. We want him to be useful for our team."

Factor of Brennan Menell having played for Dynamo...

"We spoke about this together before we played Dynamo in Saint Petersburg. Brennan spent a few seasons in Moscow, and he told me that this is an important game for him personally. He also shared some secrets which he knows. It's always important for players to compete against their former employers, there's extra motivation involved. I'm pleased that Brennan is becoming more confident in our team."
