Artemiy Panarin: "We need to put more pressure on the opponent's goal"

9 February 2015

- What was missing today? It's a heavy defeat.

- Discipline, commitment. The opponents showed how to play well and win.

- Can you say that luck wasn't on the team's side today?

- No, we simply need to crash the net harder. Even if we won't score from that, we will earn a powerplay. Today we didn't do that - the opponents played well.

- When SKA made it 1:2, it seemed as though the team could get back into things. Why didn't that happen?

- We are playing without discipline. We need to put more pressure on the opponent's goal. It's becoming a hockey law: if you crash the net, you can score, even if it won't be a beautiful goal. We aren't doing that, we want to do everything perfectly and cleanly. Against organised teams like Ak Bars, you can't win with such hockey.

- What do SKA need to improve on for the playoffs?

- Our mental state - everything is in our heads. Our commitment and discipline should be better. Physically we are in good shape, but mentally we have to improve.

- Is this something for the players to do themselves, or should the coaches take part too?

- We are all one team: the players, the coaches, and the fans.
