Alexey Ponikarovsky: "A lot will depend on how we score on our chances"

15 April 2015

- A 1:2 defeat is not what we wanted. Now we will get pumped up for the next game, go out and get the win.

- Ak Bars are only scoring in the third period in this series so far. Is there any reason for this? Maybe they are fresher?

- No, I wouldn't say that. We had tons of chances during the whole of the match, but simply couldn't score on them. They scored on their only opportunities. Nothing terrible has happened, we'll prepare for the next match.

- What happened what Ak Bars scored their first goal?

- I can't make any comments on that.

- Did you purposely sit back after scoring the opener?

- We played like usual, not giving away much in defence. We had our own chances too, and played in the same manner as in Kazan. Further on a lot will depend on how we use our goalscoring chances.

- What is going on with your powerplay unit?

- We're working over this. The guys are trying to think up some creative ideas, but it's not easy to do. We'll have a talk and see what we can do.

- How did you congratulate Ilya Kovalchuk with his birthday? And what did he say in the dressing room?

- We wished him a happy birthday in the morning. He said that we need to move on to the next match, we are up in the series 2:1, and we simply need to win the next game.

- Will the psychological advantage not move to Kazan now?

- I don't think so. In the playoffs you play every game as your last. Anything can happen in the playoffs, and we aren't panicking. We all now what to do on the ice.
