Press conference after SKA beat Severstal at the Ice Palace

HC SKA head coach Igor Larionov:

"This was a strong, rational performance from us. And, of course it's really pleasing that we didn't repeat the mistakes which we had committed in our previous game. Our guys drew the right conclusions and produced an excellent display."

Lack of PP goals...

"We'll draw the required conclusions tomorrow when we have fresh heads. We did create some good opportunities on the powerplay, but we understand the aspects of our game which require improvement. We can't be euphoric after winning 5:0. Instead, it's vital for us to remain realists and keep our feet on the ground. These games will be forgotten once the playoffs begin."

Importance of finishing in the top four...

"Our development process is the most important thing for us. When you're going through a good moment like we are now, you want to continue playing in the same vein. As I have already said, it's a completely clean slate when the playoffs begin. We'll start thinking about our first-round opponents when we discover who we will face."

Injury issues...

"Pavel Koledov should be back for game three of the first round. Yegor Savikov is expected to play against Chelyabinsk on Monday, whereas Mikhail Vorobyov will return for our game with Shanghai. Brendan Leipsic should be on the ice in our two upcoming away matches. On the other hand, the season for Igor Larionov Junior is probably over taking into account that he requires an operation. We will include SKA-VMF forwards Ignat Lutfullin and Semyon Demidov in our team."

HC Severstal Cherepovets head coach Andrei Kozyrev:

"On behalf of our entire team, I would like to thank our fans for their support. Unfortunately, we couldn't make them happy today. Saint Petersburg outplayed us in all departments."

Three quickfire SKA goals in the second period...

"We lost concentration and committed individual mistakes."

Kirill Tankov competing as a defenseman...

"We're lacking defensemen at the moment. Kirill is a good centre forward who has an excellent understanding of the game, so we decided to give him this new role. I think that he's performing well."
