Vyacheslav Voynov: "I feel in great physical shape"

- Why did you choose SKA?

- SKA are the last season's champions, and it is a team that always gives itself the highest of targets. I heard that the organisation is of a high level, and I have already been able to feel that for myself. The city is excellent too.

- What impressions did the Saint Petersburg Ice Palace leave on you?

- There are a lot of fans, always a full stadium, and the support is great.

- What can you say about the team's performances?

- The team isn't in the best form at the moment, but there is time to turn the situation around.

- SKA have a lot of players from Chelyabinsk. Are you familiar with any of them?

- One of the reasons to join SKA was because I know half of the team personally, and I have played against the rest. I know Evgeny Dadonov, Anton Burdasov and Ilya Kovalchuk well, and with other players I am constantly in contact.

- When can we expect to see you on the ice in an official match?

- Physically I feel great, and I am ready to play as soon as the opportunity arises.

- You have never played in the KHL before. Has the league lived up to your expectations in terms of game play and the fans?

- The first match which I watched was in Moscow: Dynamo against SKA. I had heard a lot about the league, but never watched a game live at the arena. I was surprised that the hockey is played at a fast pace. The ice is bigger, and it's clear how players try to be individual and show their technical ability. The level has impressed me.

- Have you been to any attractions in Saint Petersburg?

- Unfortunately not, I have only been training. My family is with me all the time.

- Why did you choose the number 27?

- As far as I know, the number 26 is out of use due to tragic circumstances. I decided to try the next number, 27.

- How should we pronounce your surname?

- Yes, I have always had problems with this. The emphasis should be on the "o".
