Nikolai Puchkov Tournament. SKA – Ak Bars – 4:3 SO

In a hugely entertaining second game of the Nikolai Puchkov Tournament, SKA outlasted Ak Bars Kazan in a thriller at the Ice Palace, emerging victorious by a score of 4:3 following a tense penalty shootout.

The Tatarstan-based visitors initially opened up a two-goal advantage in the first period, which consequently saw Artemiy Pleshkov benched in favour of Nikita Serebryakov.

SKA were galvanised by that change, with Valentin Zykov equalising with two similar powerplay goals. Vasily Glotov then hit the jackpot to provide SKA with their maiden lead of proceedings, but a late marker with a little less than seven minutes remaining on the clock allowed Kazan to force overtime.

Glotov subsequently netted the decisive penalty shot to earn a thrilling win for SKA.
