SKA - Vityaz. Match day

16 October 2016

The final game of this particular home series will take place against HC Vityaz Podolsk.

Vityaz, a team previously known as one of the KHL's real outsiders, have experienced a promising start to the campaign, occupying 8th place of the Western Conference with 31 points. The Podolsk outfit have won their past eight home games in a row, recently beating Medvescak and Slovan both by a score of 3:2, and have points from four of the past overall five matches. Goalkeeper Harri Sateri, carrying a 93.2 saves percentage, has been a rock at the back for Vityaz, while their top scorer is ex Sibir forward Alexei Kopeikin (7+11).

Last year, SKA found it tough going against Vityaz, clinching late goals to take 5:3 and 4:2 victories respectively.

Nevertheless, our players are in fantastic shape too. The team have put five consecutive wins in a row, and goaltender Igor Shestyorkin, setting a new club record in the process, has been a constant figure in all of those triumphs. Ilya Kovalchuk, the teams leading scorer (11+15), has racked up points in all of the past six fixtures.

The SKA - Vityaz match will begin at 17.00 local time inside the Saint Petersburg Ice Palace. Life78, KHL TV and KHL TV HD will broadcast live and you can follow events live on our official Twitter account.
