SKA - Traktor. Match facts

For the first time in KHL history, SKA won a match as a consequence of converting a penalty shot in overtime. Furthermore, across 16 KHL seasons, this was only the second occasion when a league team managed to score a penalty shot in the extra frame! Previously, on the 3rd of October 2022, Dynamo Moscow defeated Kunlun Red Star on the road thanks to a penalty shot netted in overtime by their forward Dmitry Rashevsky.

This marked the second time in the KHL when Sergei Tolchinsky hit the jackpot in overtime. The forward has now made 307 league appearances. His preceding OT winner had been witnessed in the 2020/2021 Gagarin Cup playoffs while he was representing Avangard Omsk.

Defenseman Stepan Falkovsky tallied his second shorthanded goal in the KHL. Interestingly, both of those particular markers have been registered against Traktor Chelyabinsk. On February 19th of this year, the Belarusian had hit the empty net for SKA against Traktor while competing shorthanded.

Furthermore, Falkovsky has recorded a minimum of one point in all three of his matches against Traktor for SKA (2+3).
