SKA - Torpedo. Facts of game five

10 March 2024

SKA have now won 28 out of 40 series in the history of the KHL Gagarin Cup playoffs. It's worth pointing out that no other club in the league has won 40 series in the competition, with the nearest challengers to SKA being Ak Bars Kazan (39), CSKA Moscow (38) and Metallurg Magnitogorsk (38).

Interestingly, 14 out of SKA's 28 playoff triumphs have been achieved by a series score of 4-1! Furthermore, in seven out of those 14 particular series, SKA have closed it out with a shutout.

SKA have recorded 30 shutouts in the KHL playoffs, trailing only CSKA (35 shutouts) in this component.

Nikita Serebryakov's 32 wins in either regulation or overtime during his debut campaign as a SKA player is a new record in the KHL for goalkeepers representing our club. The previous record of 31 victories in a debut season was achieved by both Magnus Hellberg (2018/2019) and Lars Johansson (2021/2022). Furthermore, Serebryakov now boasts two assists in these playoffs, another club record for SKA goaltenders during one single KHL playoff campaign!

20-year-old forward Grigory Kuzmin became the second player after fellow forward Arkhip Nekolenko to pick up his first point for the first SKA team during the Gagarin Cup playoffs. However, Grigory did become the first SKA player to score a goal as his first point in the playoffs, as Nekolenko's maiden point had been an assist.

Kuzmin also became the 30th player to score a minimum of one goal for SKA in the KHL this season.

Defenseman Artyom Sergeev became the first SKA player in the KHL to score shorthanded while playing with only three skaters. His empty-netter was scored while Torpedo were competing on a 6-on-3 powerplay without their goalkeeper.
