Dmitry Nikolayev was born on 25 January 2000 in Saint Petersburg, Russia. He has progressed through the SKA system, playing for SKA-Serebryanie Lvy, SKA-Varyagi and SKA-1946 in the MHL after making his debut in the league for the former in October 2016.

SKA head coach Roman Rotenberg:

- We're really happy that we have penned a new two-year deal with Dmitry, he's a product of the SKA system. In modern ice hockey, a team's success is at least 50% down to the goalkeepers. We're only just getting started, we have a lot of work ahead of us. We want to help Dmitry become one of the best goalkeepers and to later play for the senior Russian national team.

SKA goalkeeper Dmitry Nikolayev:

- It's great to play for my hometown club! Thank you to the management for believing in me. With every training session, every game and every season I will improve.
