SKA - Jokerit. Match day

SKA's mammoth home series continues today with a match up against fierce rivals HC Jokerit Helsinki.

Despite Jokerit joining the KHL last year these two clubs have already built up an enormous rivalry, and fans of both sides have been looking forward to this game for a long time. Our Finnish opponents have been making a solid impression on the KHL this season, beating a number of big teams to currently occupy second place in the Western Conference. Nevertheless SKA are only eight points behind, and a win today will help close the gap. It won't be an easy task though, and Jokerit are coming off the back of four wins out of their last five. Forward Peter Regin is their top scorer with 43 points (14+29), while number one goaltender Henrik Karlsson has a 92.3% saves percentage.

Our team got back on track against Severstal Cherepovets on Friday winning 6:1, however do still languish in seventh place of the conference. Young gun Pavel Buchnevich starred in that thrashing of Severstal, and his two goals in that match should help him gain more confidence. Mikko Koskinen's 17 save performance in that game has taken his overall percentage up to 91.6%.

These two teams have already met twice this season, with SKA winning 6:3 in Saint Petersburg and Jokerit 3:2 in Finland.

The SKA - Jokerit match will begin at 19.30 local time inside the Saint Petersburg Ice Palace. Life78, KHL TV and Match TV will all broadcast the game live, and you can follow events either by following our online matchcentre or our official Twitter account.
