Before this defeat in a penalty shootout, SKA had won nine matches in a row. Maxim Sushinsky (17), Nikita Gusev (14), Pavel Datsyuk (11) and Ilya Kovalchuk (10) have scored the most amount of shootout goals for SKA. 262 players (102 of them have scored at least once) have taken penalty shots against SKA in KHL shootouts.

Forward Marat Khairullin became the first SKA player to convert all of this first three attempts across two shootouts.

Dynamo Moscow forward Dmitry Rashevsky became the first Russian player to score two winning shootout goals against SKA. Last December, he had also won a shootout for Dynamo against SKA in Saint Petersburg,
