Sergei Shirokov: "We showed our character"

- Congratulations with your first SKA goal.

- Thank you, but it's not the main thing. It's more important that we came back from 0:2 down and showed our character. We kept on playing, began to carry out the coach's game plan, and deservedly won - we controlled the remainder of the game. I congratulate everyone with the win, it was tough but psychologically it's a very important victory.

- Why was the start of the match so hard?

- We knew that Vityaz would attack from the off. We took a penalty for having too many men on the ice, and then conceded another goal. Nevertheless that's hockey, and the main thing is that we have character, continued playing and got the result.

- SKA easily got set up in Vityaz's zone, but had problems with shots.

- At least we shot more today. Against Dynamo we also had a lot of puck possession, had chances but didn't shoot. Today we wanted to shoot the puck more, and in the end we scored our goals.

- Talk us through your goal.

- Well, it's an empty netter. The team is more important for me, and a tough stretch of the championship is coming up. We need to be in ideal shape before the playoffs.

- With the game against HC CSKA Moscow in mind, is this tough victory going to help you?

- It's good that we showed our character. The main thing is that we have the points, and we all know that against CSKA it will be a hard match. We will prepare for it.
