Sergei Bobrovsky held a master class for members of the SKA Academy

23 September 2020

Russian national team goalkeeper Sergei Bobrovsky, who previously represented SKA in the KHL, held a master class at the Hockey City complex in Saint Petersburg on September 23. Over the course of several hours, the goaltender participated in a training session with members of the SKA Academy who are aged between 13 and 17. During the process, Sergei had a tour around Hockey City, spoke with the SKA Academy players and helped them train both in the gym and on the ice.

Sergei subsequently ran a similar training session for players aged 10 to 13 on September 24.

Sergei Bobrovsky:

- This was a great experience, we spoke about the details of the training process. The players also deserve a big pat on the back, they are working hard. Maybe even a bit too hard! I would like to extend my gratitude to SKA for this opportunity, the organisation was fantastic.

- Which players stood out to you in terms of talent and natural ability?

- Of course, I didn't choose my favourites, everyone tried their best. I tried to help everyone with technical elements of the game.

- What did you speak about with the coaches?

- The small details. A goalkeeper's work is based on the small details which aren't obvious to fans. Yes, they can seem like simple things, but they are vital and very interesting to study.

- Your impressions from the Hockey City complex?

- Later, I will analyse it in more detail, but what I have seen is fantastic. The facilities for players are wonderful, the ice is good and the same can be said for the gym. Everything is of the highest level.

- The players at the academy are training in accordance with the Red Machine National Development Program.

- Yes, I have read a lot of material about this. It's obvious that a lot of great work has been undertaken. I think that it will be very useful, especially for those who are starting out in the sport. There is a base and the fundamentals of ice hockey. Moreover, it's important that it has been created for the whole of Russia, and not just for one single academy.
