2023/2024 SKA presentation

On Saturday, the Repino-Leninskoe Country Club hosted the 2023/2024 SKA presentation. The guests of the event were the Chairman of the Gazprom Management Committee Alexei Miller, Vice Governor of Saint Petersburg Boris Piotrovsky and members of the SKA Board of Directors.

The presentation started with welcoming speeches made by Alexei Miller, Boris Piotrovsky, the Chairman of the SKA Board of Directors Alexander Medvedev and the team's head coach Roman Rotenberg. Alexei Miller, Alexander Medvedev and Roman Rotenberg subsequently presented the SKA players with their jerseys for the campaign.

Chairman of the Board of Gazprom Alexei Miller:

- SKA form one of the symbols of Saint Petersburg, a city which knows how to look after its traditions. One of the city's traditions is to set ambitious targets. This season, SKA's ambitious goal is to win the Gagarin Cup. As we know, the setting of the correct target is halfway to success. The other half depends on belief. Belief that the combination of youth and experience, the professionalism of the coaching staff and the desire to win will allow us to be triumphant. We will watch a team which will display powerful, exciting and productive ice hockey. Let's go, SKA! Gazprom will always be by your side.

Vice-governor of Saint Petersburg Boris Piotrovsky:

- On behalf of the governor of Saint Petersburg Alexander Beglov and the city's governing body, I would like to congratulate you all with the return of competitive ice hockey. Summer is a wonderful time of year in which we like to enjoy the great weather, regain strength and participate in sport, but we're missing the performances of our favourite ice hockey team. We'll soon be able to watch our favourite players on the ice again, and we will do everything in order to achieve the target set by Alexei Miller.

Chairman of the SKA Board of Directors Alexander Medvedev:

- Today, we've presented the SKA team for the 2023/2024 campaign in a new location, the Repino-Leninskoe Country Club. Yesterday, SKA won the Nikolai Puchkov Tournament while Zenit Saint Petersburg's male and female teams also achieved victories. Furthermore, the Zenit basketball team gained 98 points in a friendly game win. A wave of wins has taken over the city, and we want this tradition to continue!

In the 2006/2007 season, Alexei Miller gave me a job with SKA. Now, after a long time away, I am happy to return! What's the secret of Zenit's success? Without the support of Gazprom, it wouldn't have been possible to achieve our victories. However, the factors of correct personnel placement, delegation of authority and competition for places are also key. We want to win our third Gagarin Cup in the spring of 2024. Let's go, guys!

SKA head coach Roman Rotenberg:

- I'm happy to be here at the Repino-Leninskoe complex. Gazprom is constructing facilities across Russia, and thanks to the company's efforts children are engaging in ice hockey. Moreover, thanks to Gazprom ice hockey and other sports are also developing. First of all, I would like to thank Alexei Miller and Gazprom for the support offered to our team and the whole of Russian ice hockey. I'm proud that I've been working for Gazprom since 2007.

This season, due to our joint efforts and the support of Gazprom, we've been able to put together the strongest team in the KHL. Yes, there will be serious competition, but this allows for us to develop. We will play against the best opponents in the league, showing our exciting brand of ice hockey. Even though are players are still recovering from our training camps, they produced excellent performances at the Puchkov Tournament last week. The guys won games thanks to their determination and character. In sport, not only good preparation and great facilities are required, but you must also have character and a readiness to win. We know what our goal is, and we will try to win every match. Together we are strong! Together we will win! Let's start the season!
