Kunlun Red Star - SKA. Before the match

4 January 2022

Today, at 17:00 local time, SKA will compete against Kunlun Red Star Beijing on the road in Moscow Region in the 2021/2022 KHL regular season.

This will be the second meeting between these two teams in the current campaign. In late October, our players comfortably defeated the Chinese opponents 7:0 in Saint Petersburg, with Daniil Pylenkov, Linden Vey (2), Nikita Gusev, Ivan Morozov and Joonas Kemppainen (2) all scoring. Goaltender Lars Johansson stopped all 18 Kunlun shots he faced in our net.

Kunlun are indeed without a single victory since the start of December, a miserable streak which already lasts 10 matches. As it stands, Kunlun do occupy last position of the Eastern Conference with 25 points on the board, training Barys Nur-Sultan in eighth spot by a huge total of 19 points. Furthermore, they have conceded 183 (!) goals across 45 games.

SKA, on the other hand, will move back into first position of the Western Conference with a win this evening. Our team boasts the best defence in the conference with only 94 conceded goals.

KHL TV, KHL PRIME and Channel 78 (Saint Petersburg and Leningrad Region only) will provide a television broadcast in Russia. However, you can watch a live video on the KHL's official website worldwide. Text updates will be available on our Twitter account.
