SKA Hockey Club have signed a contract with Nikolai Prokhorkin. The agreement with the forward runs for three years until 30 April 2025.

Nikolai Prokhorkin progressed through the Mechel Chelyabinsk system. He began his professional career with CSKA Moscow, winning the MHL Kharlamov Cup. In 2012, he was the 121st pick by the Los Angeles Kings in the NHL Draft. After a spell in North America, Nikolai returned to Russia with CSKA and subsequently moved to Salavat Yulaev. Nikolai joined SKA in June 2016, where he claimed the KHL Gagarin Cup a year later. In 2018, he participated at the Olympic Games with the Russian national team, earning a gold medal. He spent the 2021/2022 campaign with Avangard Omsk. So far, Nikolai has competed in 162 SKA matches, picking up 104 (48+56) points along the way. He has gained 278 points across 496 KHL games overall.

"It's fantastic to return to Saint Petersburg!" exclaimed Prokhorkin. "Saint Petersburg became home for me during my initial time with SKA. A lot has changed since I was last here, but the team does still contain some familiar faces. It is great that the backbone of the team has remained in place. I want to thank Avangard's fans for supporting the team in difficult times. I can't wait to play at the Ice Palace again, I want to feel the superb atmosphere there and the supporters' energy!"
