For the first time in 880 KHL matches, a game ended with the opponents not taking any penalty minutes, but with SKA receiving penalties. Previously, SKA had recorded nine league games without taking any penalties, while the match against Severstal Cherepovets on 17 December 2019 saw the two teams finish without receiving a single penalty each.

Forward Emil Galimov made his 450th appearance. He has tallied 171 (83+88) points in those matches.

Defenseman Yaroslav Dyblenko is the first KHL player to give away a penalty shot both for and against SKA. On 25 September 2014, when representing Atlant Mytishchi, he gifted SKA a penalty shot. Furthermore, this was the first time in 51 matches between SKA and Lokomotiv in the KHL when the Yaroslavl-based organisation received a penalty shot during regulation time.

Defenseman Igor Ozhiganov now boasts 24 (5+19) points this season, a new personal KHL record. His previous best of 23 (8+15) points was recorded for CSKA Moscow in the 2016/2017 campaign.

Lokomotiv goaltender Edward Pasquale is the third KHL goalkeeper to earn an assist against SKA in the current season. Ivan Bocharov (Dynamo Moscow) and Juho Olkinuora (Metallurg Magnitogorsk) have also made assists against SKA in the 2019/2020 campaign.

Andrei Skabelka earned his first KHL victory against SKA as head coach of Lokomotiv Yaroslavl. His only previous win as a coach was when his Sibir Novosibirsk team defeated SKA 5:2 at home on 4 September 2015.
