Harijs Vitolins speaks before playing Admiral

18 January 2018

- Will there be eight defensemen today.

- No, only seven.

- Vladislav Gavrikov was training in the fourth line.

- He was there to make it four full lines at this morning skate. One defenseman is always added.

- How are Vadim Shipachyov and Patrick Thoresen feeling? Will they play today?

- We need to look at other plays too and rotate the squad. They were in the gym, because their physical shape is important too. When we have breaks during the season, they are shorter than for other clubs - a lot of our players compete for their respective national teams.

- What happened to Alexander Barabanov?

- After receiving an injury, he only just started skating again. After the match against Lokomotiv, he couldn't skate on the ice for three or four days. He pulled a muscle. He will slowly return to the roster.

- Is Mikko Koskinen expected to play in net?

- No, Igor Shestyorkin will play today.

- How many SKA players will be in the Russian Olympic team?

- I can't say anything now. We are working with our club at the moment, other players should perform well in their teams. We're looking at other candidates too.

- So any player can impress enough in these three remaining KHL matches to make the Olympic roster?

- Yes, we will look at how everyone plays. There are injuries too. There are two or three candidates for all of the positions, we'll see how the players feel.

- Are you worried that some players on the roster can't play at the Olympic Games?

- Right now, we're thinking about our club. The time will come for the national team.
