Changes to the SKA Board of Directors

SKA Hockey Club can reveal that changes have been made to the organisation's Board of Directors, with Alexander Medvedev being elected as the new Chairman. Furthermore, Vladimir Yurzinov, an honoured Russian coach and the advisor to the SKA head coach, has joined the Board of Directors.

The management, the team and all SKA employees sincerely thank Gennady Timchenko for his years of productive work as the Chairman of the club's Board of Directors. Over these 12 years, SKA have become one of the Kontinental Hockey League's (KHL) leading clubs, winning the Gagarin Cup twice, the Russian championship once and the Continental Cup three times. Moreover, the state-of-the-art Hockey City complex was constructed, the SKA Academy was launched and is actively developing, and the youth system is rightfully considered as the strongest in the country with SKA-1946 having earning the 2022 Kharlamov Cup in the Junior Hockey League and academy players winning the 2023 Champions Cup in two separate age categories.

Alexander Ivanovich Medvedev was born on the 14th of August 1955 in Shakhtyorsk, Sakhalin Region.

He became a member of the Gazprom Management Board in 2002. Between 2005 and 2019, Alexander served as the Deputy Chairman of the Gazprom Management Board. He was also General Director of Gazprom Export LLC from 2002 to 2014. Between 2006 and 2011, Alexander worked as the President and Chairman of the Board of Directors of SKA Hockey Club. He became the Deputy Chairman of the Board of Directors of SKA in 2011, and subsequently a member of the Board of Directors of the club. From 2008 to 2014, he was the Chairman of the Board and the President of the KHL. In 2016 he joined the Board of Directors of the KHL. Since 2015, he has been the general director of the St. Petersburg Open, and in 2016 he assumed an identical role for the St. Petersburg Ladies Trophy. Alexander has worked as the General Director of Zenit Saint Petersburg Football Club since February 2019, and he became the Chairman of the FC Zenit board in June 2023.
