Briefing following the completion of the 2022/2023 season

HC SKA head coach Roman Rotenberg:

- First of all, I would like to express my deep gratitude to everyone who was present at our season-ending event today. Overall, we enjoyed a very successful season. After the last championship we found ourselves in a difficult situation. We understood that the composition would change by almost 50 percent due to various factors that influenced our performance last season. All the top foreigners left us, guys who were world and Olympic champions, players of a very high level. We faced a serious challenge - to strengthen our team no matter what. We chose our path, found a way to strengthen. We worked with guys who were already in the squad, found players who deserve to be in our team. Many did not believe in us in the off-season, at the beginning of the season. They asked: "Why do you need these players?" It is clear that journalists do not see the whole picture. Nevertheless, we proved everyone wrong and were in first position of the standings right from the first round of games.

We performed successfully during the maiden two rounds of the KHL Gagarin Cup playoffs. Together with CSKA Moscow, we're the only two teams to reach the conference finals for two seasons in a row. Step by step we go forward. Moreover, I would like to congratulate everyone with our Continental Cup triumph! We promised Alexei Borisovich Miller and Gazprom to win both the Continental Cup and the Gagarin Cup, so we have something to strive for. We have fulfilled 70 percent of what was required of us. The team will be strengthened, we're working on this. Many thanks to everyone for the season - our fans, PJSC Gazprom and personally Alexey Borisovich Miller, all our partners. Special thanks to the team, staff, doctors.
