77 years since the birth of Sergei Solodukhin

Sergei Solodukhin, a bronze medalist of the USSR Championship with SKA, would today have turned 77 years of age.
Born in Leningrad, Sergei initially started out with Lenmyasokombinat before subsequently being invited to join SKA by legendary coach Nikolai Puchkov. Sergei did indeed go on to spend the entirety of his professional career with our organisation, making 319 competitive appearances across 11 seasons and registering a grand total of 205 (125+80) points.
Furthermore, his marker against Spartak Moscow in April of 1971 was decisive in SKA’s quest for a maiden domestic bronze. Sergei also twice won the Spengler Cup with SKA and reached two USSR Cup finals before ending his career in 1977.
Sergei, who was inducted into the SKA Hall of Fame on 15 January 2004, sadly passed away on 18 July 1999.
