Atanasov and Varlakov join SKA as part of Torpedo trade!

SKA Hockey Club and Torpedo Nizhny Novgorod have agreed on a trade.

Defenseman Arseniy Varlakov and forward Vasily Atanasov are transferring to SKA, with forward Matvei Polyakov moving in the opposite direction. 

HC SKA thanks Matvei for his efforts, while welcoming Arseniy and Vasily to Saint Petersburg!

Arseniy Varlakov, 22, was born in Miass, Chelyabinsk Region. He moved to Khanty-Mansiysk at the age of 11, progressing through the Yugra system. Arseniy was signed by Torpedo in the summer of 2023, winning the VHL in his second season with the organisation.

In the 2025/2026 campaign, Arseniy recorded two (0+2) points in eight KHL games and 19 (4+15) in 49 VHL matches.

23-year-old Vasily Atanasov was born in Nizhny Tagil, Sverdlovsk Region. Having initially started out with the local Sputnik academy, he then spent nine seasons with Dinamo Saint Petersburg.

At the age of 17 Vasily was snapped up by Yugra, where he made his professional debut in the MHL and VHL. The next step in his career was Torpedo, penning a deal with the Nizhny Novgorod-based organisation in 2022. He became an MHL champion in the subsequent season.

He registered 40 (23+17) points in 72 matches during the preceding KHL campaign.
