100 Ilya Kovalchuk goals and other facts of the win in Novokuznetsk

21 October 2016

SKA's third goal against Metallurg Novokuznetsk was the team's 100th of the season. No other club has reached this landmark yet.

Back in the 2014/2015 season, the club only needed 22 games to net 100.

In his 245th appearance, Ilya Kovalchuk scored his 100 SKA goal. 66 have come at equal strength, 31 on the powerplay and 3 shorthanded. Ilya has scored 54 at home and 46 away.

23 of Ilya's goals have been game winners in regulation, while he has scored one other in overtime. 24 have been the first in a match which allowed SKA to gain a lead.

Ilya has scored against 29 different KHL clubs. CSKA have been his favourite opponents, knocking 12 past them.

51 goaltenders have seen Ilya's shots fly past them, with Sergei Borisov and Stanislav Galimov being the most unfortunate.

Eight goaltenders have conceded hat tricks to Ilya, another 18 have let in two goals in one game, and 23 have seen one Ilya goal get by them. Interestingly, Ilya once scored against Mikko Koskinen and Igor Shestyorkin when they were playing for different KHL clubs.

We note that Ilya Kovalchuk is only the 14th SKA player to score 100 goals for the club. The previous was Maxim Sushinsky.

Ilya is the first SKA player to notch up 100 points on the powerplay (31+69). However, taking into account the Russian championship, Maxim Sushinsky has more with 103 (35+68).

Vadim Shipachyov now boasts 201 SKA points (61+140). It has taken only 219 games for him to achieve this. Alongside Ilya Kovalchuk and Vadim, Patrick Thoresen and Tony Martensson have more than 200 points.

Goaltender Mikko Koskinen tallied up his 20th KHL shutout, sharing second place among Finnish goalkeepers in this category with Petri Vehanen. 11 have been in the regular season, with a further 9 in the playoffs. First place belongs to Finland's Karri Ramo (25). Saving only 14 shots yesterday, it was the quietest shutout for Mikko in history.

In his 166th SKA match, Evgeny Dadonov netted his 70th club goal.
